Craftsmanship

3D Embossing

A heated die pressed into the fabric raises or recesses a pattern without adding any material.

Embossing changes the surface of the fabric itself rather than sitting on top of it. A metal die engraved with the design is heated and pressed into the garment under pressure; the fibres take a permanent set, so the motif stays raised or sunken once the die is removed.

Because nothing is added, the pattern reads tonally — it shows as shadow and highlight rather than colour, which suits quiet branding, monograms and textured panels. Heavier, denser fabrics hold the impression far better than loose knits.

Works on
Dense knits, twill, denim, faux leather, felt
Typical use
Tonal logos, monograms, textured panels, pocket detail
Artwork
