Flocking
Short cut fibre fired into an adhesive layer, giving a soft velvet surface instead of a plastic one.
Flocking applies a printed adhesive to the fabric, then short cut fibres are driven into it electrostatically so they stand upright and pack densely. The cured result is a matte, velvet-like patch with a noticeably softer hand than plastisol or vinyl.
It takes colour well on both light and dark grounds, and is a popular choice where a print needs to feel like part of the garment — kidswear, linings, tonal logos and oversized graphics that would otherwise feel stiff.
