Craftsmanship
Patch
A separately made embroidered or woven piece, stitched or heat-sealed onto the garment.
A patch is produced on its own before it ever touches the garment: the artwork is embroidered on a backing fabric or woven on a loom, the border is finished as a merrowed edge or a clean cut, and the piece is then sewn on or applied with a heat-activated adhesive.
Keeping it separate means the patch can carry far denser stitching than the garment itself could support, and it can be moved between panels. Woven patches hold small text and fine detail better; embroidered patches give the raised texture most streetwear and workwear labels want.
